SC Protect Terms and Conditions

SC Protect is an item protection product developed by ShippingCart.

Upon receipt of the applicable premium, ShippingCart will provide protection against loss, damage, late delivery, and return to sender for the specific shipment, subject to the terms and conditions outlined herein.

Coverage Eligibility

You may protect any item that is legally permissible for shipment and is not listed as an exclusion in ShippingCart's prohibited items list. Items that fall under the excluded categories are not covered under SC Protect.

Prohibited Items

The following items are strictly prohibited from shipping and are not eligible for SC Protect coverage:

  • Packaging materials such as wooden crates or shipments that may cause damage or delays to equipment or other shipments.
  • Large equipment and appliances requiring special handling (e.g., generator sets, industrial equipment, construction power tools, forklifts, LED appliances).
  • Biological and agricultural items including hatching eggs, eggs, rice, live plants, plant materials, seeds, and cut flowers.
  • Bulk commercial consignments or dangerous goods as defined by relevant government authorities.
    Illegal substances including narcotics, drugs, and hazardous waste (e.g., used hypodermic needles, syringes, medical waste).
  • Animal-related items such as bloodstock, live animals, exotic or stud animals, dead animals, mounted specimens, animal remains, carcasses, and ivory.
  • Human remains and related items including human body parts, embryos, cremated remains, and disinterred remains.
  • Precious metals and stones including gold, silver, platinum, palladium, bullion, and coins in any form.
  • Monetary instruments including cash, banknotes, negotiable instruments, checks, credit card sales vouchers, securities, stocks, bonds, deeds, bills of exchange, and prepaid bank or cellular cards.
  • Radioactive, toxic, or explosive materials including nuclear materials, oxidizing substances, organic peroxides, and toxic (poisonous) substances.
  • Highly combustible and weapon-related items including coal, LPG, gunpowder, firearms, firearm parts, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, and related by-products.
  • Perishable goods and pharmaceuticals including temperature-controlled or frozen items and medicinal products.
  • Flammable and hazardous liquids such as gasoline, LPG, hydrogen, liquid or gaseous oxygen, palm oil, cooking oil, detergent, and related by-products.
  • High-value watches made of precious metals and/or gemstones.
  • Tobacco products and cigarettes.
  • Motor vehicles and large automotive parts including tractors, buses, trucks, caravans, trailers,
  • motorcycles, and cars (excluding small automobile parts or accessories).
  • Leather goods and animal products including rawhide skins, unfinished leather products, furs, and fur-trimmed clothing.
  • Other hazardous materials and any goods prohibited by law.

Liability and Compensation

ShippingCart's liability under SC Protect is limited and subject to claim evaluation and approval. Coverage is determined as follows:

1. Loss or Damage

  • Up to USD 10,000 per item/goods.
  • Up to USD 20,000 per customer per shipment/transit/delivery.

2. Delivery Guarantee

  • Compensation of up to PHP 5,000.00 (or its USD equivalent) per customer per shipment if the package/item(s) does not arrive on the committed delivery date.

3. Return to Sender.

  • Compensation of up to PHP 5,000.00 per customer per shipment/transit/delivery.

Valuation and Deductible

The valuation of your shipment is determined based on the declared value or supporting shipping documents (e.g. invoices, receipts, bills of lading, goods receipt), whichever is lower.

Important Notes:

  • ShippingCart's liability will not exceed the protected value of the affected item(s).
  • Any salvage or recovery proceeds related to covered losses will be for the benefit of ShippingCart.
  • For lost or damaged items, a deductible of 2.5% of the declared value applies per claim, with a minimum of USD 20.00, whichever is higher.
  • For late deliveries, the protection fee is excluded from the claim amount.
  • The claim request should be sent to ShippingCart Customer Care via email (customercare@shippingcart.com) within 15 days from shipment delivery date for cases of missing/damaged items, late delivery, return to sender.

Exclusions and Force Majeure

SC Protect does not cover shipments affected by:

  • Acts of war, rebellion, terrorist attacks, riots, or any form of civil unrest.
  • Government seizure, confiscation, or legal detainment of shipments.
  • Natural disasters, extreme weather conditions, or any force majeure events beyond ShippingCart's control.

Final Provisions

By availing SC Protect, the customer agrees to these Terms and Conditions and acknowledges that ShippingCart reserves the right to modify or amend these terms without prior notice. Any disputes or claims arising under SC Protect shall be governed by the laws of the applicable jurisdiction where ShippingCart operates.
